Our Mission

Elshaddai My Helper exists to relieve poverty and provide assistance to adults experiencing homelessness in Hackney, Walthamstow, and beyond. Through compassionate outreach and practical support, we supply essential items including food, clothing, and personal care products, while treating every individual with dignity and respect. We collaborate with like-minded charitable organizations to maximize our impact and serve our community effectively.

Our Vision

We envision a community where no person experiencing homelessness is without the basic necessities of life—warmth, food, and human compassion. Through consistent outreach, strategic partnerships, and future plan including health checks and housing support, we are working toward a future where everyone has access to the resources and dignity they deserve.

Our Story

Elshaddai My Helper was established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 5th July 2017, born from a deep commitment to serve adults experiencing homelessness in East London.

What began as a compassionate response to those in need has grown into a structured charity with a dedicated team of trustees and volunteers, conducting regular monthly outreach in Walthamstow under the umbrella of Christian Kitchen, and quarterly joint outreach in Hackney in partnership with local churches and charitable groups.

Our name, 'Elshaddai My Helper,' reflects our commitment to being present for those who need support most. Since 2017, we have provided thousands of essential items, countless hot meals, and—most importantly—human connection and dignity to members of our community facing homelessness.

Currently registered with the Charity Commission (No. 1173678), we continue to expand our services with plans for health partnerships and housing support initiatives, always guided by our core mission of reaching out, supporting, and empowering.

Over the years, we have evolved our approach, learning from the communities we serve and adapting our programs to address real needs. Today, we operate monthly/quarterly programs, supported by 10+ dedicated volunteers and countless generous donors who share our vision.

Our name, 'Elshaddai My Helper,' reflects our core belief that God will provide.

Stories of Hope and
Transformation

Real impact.

I have been an active trustee of Elshaddai My Helper for over 9 years. Elshaddai My Helper is a charity that supports people facing homelessness and rough sleeping. We provide practical, compassionate support by offering essential basics such as food, toiletries and clothing. Our aim is to treat people with dignity, understanding, and respect — supporting them where they are, without judgement. One of our long-term goals, through partnership, is to reduce hardship, improve well-being, and help people navigate the support available to them.

Morenike Trustee

My journey with Elshaddai My Helper started in 2020 during Covid-19 pandemic, the relationship blossomed as we pray, plan and progress together in the ministry, and seeing God bringing results. We see month in, month out the difference we are making in people's lives, my joy comes when we are able to offer practical advice to service users not just giving them food, when we are able to pray with them or hand out a useful telephone number that could make a difference in their lives. Elshaddai My Helper ministry embodies the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 25: 34- 36. _Matthew 25:34-36 NKJV [34] Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: [35] for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; [36] I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

Ade Volunteer

I have been an active volunteer with ElShaddai My Helper for almost 7 years, operating out of CK in Walthamstow . I try as hard as possible to keep that last Saturday of every month free unless I am out of the country. I really enjoy doing this because I have a heart for the homeless and for those who are struggling to have regular meals whatever life's reasons. By being a regular volunteer I have built up a good relationship with our Guests and I believe that this is important for them to be remembered and recognised on a regular time scale. I also have built up nice relationships with the other volunteers and those organising this monthly ministry.
